To enhance the university’s ability to attract and retain underrepresented students, faculty and staff by facilitating the creation of a more inclusive and diversity-sensitive campus community.
To build relationships with targeted high schools and universities across the state and nation in order to create more awareness of opportunities at the university for underrepresented students, staff and faculty.
To create, administer, and support campus-wide diversity committees and affinity groups that help to facilitate an on-going dialogue about campus diversity and to develop strategic plans.
To develop and support recruiting and college preparation efforts which attract underrepresented students from across the state and nation.
To develop and support mentoring efforts which assist in improving retention rates for underrepresented students.
To support the efforts of the various colleges to carry-out diversity enhancements as specified in their diversity plans.
To serve as a voice for the university’s diversity message in events around campus and throughout the state and nation.
